Sylvan Hall is a restaurant and bar taking shape inside a historic building in downtown Avon-by-the-Sea, New Jersey.
The building is a big part of why the project exists. Avon’s downtown doesn’t have many structures left with this kind of scale and history, and the goal is to keep what makes it distinctive while putting it back to work as a business rather than preserving it as an artifact.
The other part is the license. Sylvan Hall will hold the only liquor license in downtown Avon, which in a walkable New Jersey beach town is a scarce and durable thing to own. That’s a meaningful piece of why we’re doing this.
Where things stand
