The Surf Village
Nine intentionally designed bungalows located in the heart of Bradley Beach.
The Surf Village is a nine-bungalow hospitality property in Bradley Beach, New Jersey, a few blocks from the ocean between Asbury Park and Belmar. We acquired it in 2022 and redeveloped it into the boutique operation it is today.
Why this project
Nine small bungalows on one walkable block near the beach is a pretty unusual property type, and one that’s hard to recreate today. We bought it because the property already had a character and scale that made it interesting, and because we thought it could work as a real hospitality business.
What we did
We renovated all nine bungalows, which range from one to three bedrooms, while keeping the things that gave the property its identity: the scale, the mid-century character, and the feeling of a small village. Artwork and details from local artists tie it back to Bradley Beach and the surrounding area.
We also built the operating business around it: pricing, booking systems, turnover, maintenance, and guest experience. It’s run day to day as an owner-operated hospitality property, not as a collection of passive rentals.
The Surf Village is managed by Inplace Hospitality, and it set the template for what came after, including The Windswept in Point Pleasant Beach and 502 Brinley, the 12-unit building next door.
